What Are Cookies?

Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. They are widely used to make websites work, to remember your preferences, and to provide information to site owners about how their site is used.

How We Use Cookies

This site is hosted on Microsoft Azure. It uses two kinds of cookies, and only the first is ever set without asking you:

Strictly necessary cookies — required for the site to function and to keep it secure. These cannot be switched off in our systems. The contact page also loads Cloudflare Turnstile, which protects the form from automated abuse and may set its own cookies for that purpose.
Analytics cookies, only with your consent — set by Microsoft Azure Application Insights, which we use to understand how the site is used so that we can improve its content and performance.

The Analytics Cookies

ai_user — a random identifier that lets us tell a returning browser from a new one. It contains nothing about you: no name, email address, or account. It is long-lived.
ai_session — groups the pages you view during one visit. It expires after a period of inactivity.

What Analytics Records

The pages you view and how long you spend on them, the page that referred you, your browser, operating system and device type, how quickly pages load, whether the requests a page makes back to our site succeed, and any script errors. Your approximate location, to country and city, is derived from your IP address when the data arrives; the IP address itself is not stored. We do not use analytics to identify you, we do not sell it, we do not use it for advertising, and it does not follow you to other websites. Microsoft holds the data on our behalf in Azure in the United States, and it is kept for 30 days.

Your Choice

On your first visit, a banner asks whether you accept analytics cookies. If you decline, or simply ignore the banner, the analytics script is never loaded and nothing is recorded in your browser. Your answer is remembered in your browser’s local storage, under the name rx-analytics-consent, so that we do not ask on every page. You can change your mind at any time, and declining after accepting removes the analytics cookies from your browser.

Managing Cookies

Most web browsers let you control cookies through their settings, including blocking or deleting them. Restricting cookies may affect the functionality of this and other websites. For more information, consult your browser’s help documentation.
